Accompanied by a great sensitive rhythm section, guitar player Julien Tassin plays energetic and expressive improvised music. With a consistent dedication to strong melodies and beautiful themes, he creates an original musical language drawing influences from blues to rock and jazz. Julien Tassin’s music is in the image of the way he plays: sincere, clear and borderless. His guitar tone is gentle and lyrical but wild at the same time. He takes different genres but gives them back in his own personal way, composing a repertoire that is remarkably varied but still homogeneous. All his compositions are marked by the particular timbre of his instrument and his original phrasing. With this trio, formulated of mature musicians and outstanding soloists: double bassist Nicolas Thys and drummer Dré Pallemaerts, he reveals a distinctive musical personality. They play with simplicity, bending their art to the compositions and their atmospheres.
Born three years ago at the Sounds Jazz Club in Brussels, the trio present today his first CD together “Sweet Tension” an album which invites us into his light/dark electric universe.
